Taking over a space with some real established history in Los Angeles's Chinatown Chinese cuisine scene, Broadway Cuisine is the former staff of Plug Tree Inn that continues some of the traditions. The menu here is not your typical banquet-style Chinese restaurant. This modified version is simplified to a cafe-style restaurant with a family entree setting and with familiar dishes. Rice and noodles dishes are still the Cantonese ones. From Beef Chow Fun to Fried Rice entrees, most everything are deliciously made. Much of the saving grace is the fact that the seasoning is on point and not overly salty as some Chinese restaurants can be. The decor is a remnant of the previous owners' banquet history. With large tables and booths, the dining room is large and tall. A fresh coat of paint is certainly needed. With excellent service, and a simplified menu Broadway is very approachable. There is no focus on fresh seafood that other large Chinese Restaurants may have, but dishes here are of good value. There is limited parking on premises thus be prepared to find street parking or use some of the pay lots just a block or two away.

Many years ago we took our little children then to visit our friends in LA and we went to the Plum Tree. This year we wanted to meet our friends again at this restaurant, but now it became Broadway Cuisine. We like the restaurant and food there before and now, the place is bigger and nicer if I recalled since our kids are all much older now. Our friends are older and their kids are all grown up. Nothing beats a nice reunion with the same great food. There are parking in the back which is nice. The prices are still reasonably inexpensive for the food they served. Our friends ordered all the dishes they liked like Mooshu pork, beef, lomein, Tsingtao and sapporo beer, and we had a feast. The wor wonton soup was excellent, the broth was just right with plenty of meat and shrimps, everyone liked it, just like before. The mooshu beef is quite different and tasty from what we used to "pork", we had both with extra pan cakes. The pan cakes here are quite big and thick compare to the one we eat at Hongkong near home. The shrimps in garlic sauce was so delicious and the chicken with fresh mushrooms and bamboo was excellent. All the fried rice dishes are excellent, from veggies, to pineapple to special. Everyone loved them, that's the most important thing. We had so much fun and hungry, we forgot to take pictures of individual dishes LOL. Next time when we visit. The service here is very attentive and pleasant. These ladies are actually had great sense of humor which make the ordering fun.

One of the best Chinese restaurant in China town, used to be called plum tree restaurant, now it's Broadway. Their food is way better then the previous one. The prices are best during lunch special. Love the food they serve, very light and not greasy. The hot and sour soup was very good and very tasty. Beef steak was tender and favorable. I would highly recommend this restaurant, and would definitely come back to try other dishes.

*Can you believe they got my order wrong and it was still amazing.* I order something completely different and Im not sure how I ended up with this order. Maybe I should have listened closer when she repeated back my order. Although my order ended up being really good. At first I was upset about the wrong order and decided to make the best of it and give it a try. Man let me tell you that’s some of the best fried rice I have ever had. The egg foo young was good and the gravy was probably the best I’ve had. The staff here are super quick and very friendly. Soon as I walked in they instantly tried to sit me at a table. I do feel kind of bad for the people that probably got my order because I’m sure they probably had go back and get their order corrected. Besides that I’m glad they messed up my order. I wish they would have made a mistake and tossed in some egg rolls! I would highly suggest stopping by and giving this place a try. Just check your bag before you leave.
